The Social Media, PR and Tech worlds are constantly changing meaning everyday there is something new to report. With loads of information released daily, I'm here to try to make it easy for you.
Here's the skinny: After this week full of elections and social media turmoil, it is no surprise that there were hundreds of headlines to skim through. Let's start with the negatives: Facebook gets blamed for the election, whether you agree or disagree with the outcome. Twitter wins on election day with traffic doubling, however, loses that momentum with a #TwitterBlackout. Instagram also went black with a lot of black squares the day after the election. Speaking of Instagram, people finally complained about the obnoxious out of order timeline. Many new updates to Instagram Stories came out this week to try to compete with the release of the Snapchat Spectacles'. Snapchat also went down after the election, in which people promptly blamed Trump. Twitter's COO Adam Bain stepped down and will be replaced by Anthony Noto. Pinterest added a new 'Tried it' feature to their website to keep track of your purchases. Meanwhile Apple and Facebook are both working on security features to help you stay safe in a crisis. Ironic, especially since Facebook tried to kill us all off this week. Deaf YouTubers started a movement to stop the crappy captions on videos #NoMoreCraptions. Uber comes out with a 'feed' to enjoy during your ride. Do I smell a new social media on the horizon? And lastly, check out these super weird looking vending machines where you can buy your Snapchat Spects.
In case that wasn't enough or you feel like you missed something, here is everything that happened this week:
