The dictionary definition of cheating is:

3. To mislead; fool
4. To elude; escape
Communication is key to every relationship. Today in our digital world is saddens me that relationships have come down to maybe texting throughout the day, seeing each other a few times a month, and barely having any meaningful conversations. We would rather spend our moments scrolling through instagram and gazing at tweets then to tell our signifiant other how much they actually mean to us.
Everyday we are cheated by a lack of communication, we are deprived by a lack of attention, we are misled by a lack of intimacy, and we are eluded by a lack of passion.
Anthony D'Ambrosio puts it well: "This type of cheating brings damage much greater than that of any sexual affair. You've given you're heart to someone, you love them with every bone in your body, but yet, you have to beg for their attention."
Fortunately this type of cheating is easy to reverse, it just requires time and effort on both parts.
Now let's talk about a more definitive type of cheating - one that I am sadly too familiar with. ANY SORT OF EMOTIONAL ATTACHMENT TO ANOTHER PERSON OTHER THAN YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER IS CHEATING!
This leads to my least favorite topic:
Exes.
This is the primary reason that I believe that you CANNOT be friends with your ex.
You and your ex have an emotional attachment. Attempting to be friends with your ex, even slightly, continues that emotional bond. This emotional attachment you have for that person is not, and will not be, fair to your significant other, whether you are in a relationship currently or hope to be in a relationship in the future.
Remember: Your ex is your ex for a reason and keeping them in your life is not only going to hurt you but will eventually hurt your significant other.
Tell me your thoughts.
